Denise Drisdelle
Counsellor
I grew up in New Brunswick and graduated from St. Thomas University in 1995 with a BA (Honours in Psychology and a Major in French). After graduation I moved to British Columbia to pursue a career in mental health.
With a lifelong commitment to supporting health and wellbeing, I bring a unique blend of counselling, psychology, and healthcare experience to my practice. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from St. Thomas University (1995) and completed my Master’s degree in Counselling in 2025, with a focus on supporting individuals living with chronic health conditions.
My professional journey began in community living, where I spent two decades working with Spectrum Society for Community Living. Those years fostered a deep appreciation for inclusion, resilience, and person-centred care—values that continue to guide my counselling practice today. I remain connected to the organization as a board director.
Alongside my counselling work, I have been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2006, specializing in manual lymph drainage and supporting individuals living with cancer, chronic illness, and other complex health conditions. This experience has given me a profound understanding of the connection between physical health, emotional wellbeing, and the challenges that can arise when navigating illness, recovery, and change.
My counselling approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based practice. I strive to create a safe, supportive space where clients can explore the emotional impact of chronic illness, life transitions, stress, anxiety, grief, and other personal challenges. I have a particular interest in helping individuals develop practical strategies for improving sleep, recognizing the important role that healthy sleep plays in mental health, resilience, and overall quality of life.
Whether working with clients one-on-one, teaching healthcare professionals, or continuing my own learning, my goal remains the same: to help people feel more empowered, connected, and supported as they navigate life’s challenges and move toward greater wellbeing.
